What impact has EDA had on you?

EDA has completely changed my life. When I decided to quit my job and join the program it felt pretty intimidating, but now I’ve landed a job at the place I used to dream about when I first started. It’s been a game-changer, and I couldn’t be happier with how things have unfolded.

What has been the biggest lesson you have learned?

A really important lesson that I learned in my time at EDA is the value of reaching out for help when you need it. While it’s crucial to put in the effort and learn independently, knowing when to ask for help and lean on my cohort members has been a key takeaway for me. It’s not just about putting your head down and  learning; it’s also about building a supportive community and realizing that everyone is on this journey together.

What is your favorite memory from EDA?

It’s not a specific memory, but what stands out for me is the gradual transformation of everyone in the group. I remember our first day when we were all a bit shy, but over time, it’s been amazing to witness and experience how each person has come out of their shell. It’s like being in a room full of my brothers now, a tight-knit group that has grown and bonded together each day.

If you were to give advice to someone considering applying to EDA, what would you say?

For anyone thinking about joining EDA, my advice would be simple: go for it.

I’ll be honest, I was a bit hesitant at first. I’ve always been a tad skeptical when people claim, “This was the best decision I’ve ever made”. However, in this case, it really was. I enjoyed what I was doing before, but I felt a bit stuck and had limited room for growth. EDA has opened up numerous doors for career growth and unlocked a world of potential and I couldn’t be more grateful.

What advice do you have for the next cohort?

For the incoming cohort, I’d offer this piece of advice: Acknowledge that the journey ahead can be tough, but approach it one day at a time.

There were moments when my imposter syndrome felt overwhelming and the journey seemed overwhelming. What got me through was having a strong support system – people who reminded me to focus on each day and not get bogged down by the big picture. Your cohort mates are also facing similar challenges, so lean on each other for support. Don’t hesitate to reach out to past EDA grads; they’ve been in your shoes and can provide valuable insights. You’re about to embark on something significant, and while it may be challenging, trust that you’ll overcome it. Take it one day at a time, and you’ll do great.
