What impact has EDA had on you?

EDA has not only given me the foundational technical skills necessary to begin my career, but it has also helped me find a place in the FM tech community. Having the support of great instructors, amazing mentors, and the Emerging Prairie network has given me the confidence I need as I begin this new chapter in my life.

What has been the biggest lesson you have learned?

Through my work at EDA, I’ve developed a much stronger sense of confidence in my ability to problem solve. I’ve learned how to have patience when I’m stuck, effectively leverage the resources available to me, and ask for help when I need it. I’ve also learned how much I still have to learn!

What is your favorite memory from EDA?

It’s difficult to pick just one. I think what I’ve enjoyed the most is the opportunity to work alongside my cohort to bring our group project to life. We’ve shared a lot of hard work, but probably even more laughs.

If you were to give advice to someone considering applying to EDA, what would you say?

I would tell them to get connected as soon as they can. Reach out to EDA staff and start the conversation. They help you figure out if this is the right path for you.

What advice do you have for the next cohort?

Be patient! Be patient with your own learning process. Avoid comparing yourself directly to your classmates. Progress can sometimes feel slow day to day, but when you zoom out, you’ll see that you will make significant strides week to week. Just keep going!
