Meet Minsky: Chris Harwood

Chris Harwood  joins the Minsky cohort after being a technical support lead at a software company!  Chris grew up in Sherman, Texas, but has lived in Fargo for the last 20 years.

Learn about Chris and why he chose EDA ⬇️

Why did you choose EDA?

I enjoy problem solving and learning the best way to build things. Software engineering has always seemed interesting to me. I have worked in technical support for the majority of my career so far and wanted to take my skills a step further.

What is the most interesting or surprising thing about EDA so far?

The cohort members come from a variety of backgrounds, but it was surprising how quickly we connected and started working as a team. The program does a great job at fostering a teamwork environment, similar to an employer.

What are your hobbies outside of EDA?

In the last couple of years I have started UTV (side-by-side) riding, which is a lot of fun. I have gone on rides throughout Minnesota and the Black Hills in South Dakota, and look forward to more destinations this year.

I also have two daughters that keep my wife and I busy! We spend as much time as we can outdoors, especially in the summer.

Any advice for someone thinking about joining EDA?

You can start this program with no coding experience. Although I have worked in tech for most of my career, software engineering was completely new to me. EDA provides all the resources you need to be successful in this path, and the staff equips you to succeed.

What is something you are grateful for?

I am extremely grateful for my wife, family, and support system. Their support and understanding keep me going.
